The Horst Arts & Music Festival is a festival which blends together music, with on-site artworks, into one unique experience. The purpose is to celebrate various forms of art and expression, and to give a platform for artists to showcase their talent. The new established identity illuminates the environment of the festival abstractly, and the typography, colours, shapes, and linework serve to showcase the various forms of arts at the festival.

Through using a visual language, the goal was to create an identity that captivates the audience and reflects the festival’s feeling, theme and nature. The festival allows for expressing creativity and strives for innovation and out of the box thinking, so through the design, the audience can engage and be immersed through their own interpretation. The project identity must then be applied at various scales including a promotional poster, e-tickets, and event booklet.

​The use of organic lines and circular shapes symbolizes unity and connectedness, combined with the dissolved grain effect, it illuminates the festival’s theme of disconnecting from digital communication, and embracing natural interaction. 3D letterforms show the architecture of the festival, and repeating lines create rhythm that with the distorted type, allude to the music. The paper texture and completely digitized poster are reflective of the contemporary and experimental art the festival offers.
