Significance

Cartoon violence has been a topic of recent relevance because cartoons reflect what is appropriate and acceptable behaviour for today's audience. Cartoons are especially critiqued because cartoons are aimed at young audiences. The results of the data gathering reveal how at one point in time, certain depictions in the Looney Tunes, which were acceptable, are no longer tolerable in current times. These controversies unveil how cartoons must adapt and evolve to remain acceptable in today's society.

Strategy

The design strategy in this project allows the viewer to analyze a cartoon through a critical lens with a serious undertone. I chose to do this because cartoons are often looked over and ignored because they have an aesthetic which appeals to children. At the same time, the main graphics use the expressive visual language of cartoons to depict the data. The monotone colour scheme provides a contrast to the graphics which underlines the distinction between the visual aesthetic of the cartoon and the violent content.
